Maike suffers from Spastische Hemiparese links Spastic hemiparesis on her left side but this has not stop her with international success, at the 2012 Paralympic Games she placed 5th in the 400m and at the 2016 Paralympic Games, she placed 4th in long jump.
Maike is a multi-disciplinary competitor, competing in the long jump, the 400m, 200m, 4x100m as well as para-triathlon. At the 2011 European Championships, she took 4th place in the 4x100m, 5th in the long jump and 6th place in the 400m. At the 2012 European Championships, she placed 2nd in the long jump, then at the 2014 European Championships she placed 3rd in the 4x100m and at the 2017 European Championships she placed 2nd in para-triathlon.
At the 2016 Junior World Championships she took gold in the long jump, placed 2nd in the 400m and 3rd in the 200m.
At the 2017 ITU World Triathlon Grand Final Rotterdam, she took a bronze medal in the para-triathlon event. Maike’s personal best is in the 400m where she competed it in 10.45.
