Race Information - SPRINT
The Namibia Triathlon Federation is excited to share the details for the 2022 Africa Triathlon Cup Swakopmund hosted in Swakopmund, Namibia. We invite you to this small German coastal town with a huge holiday vibe and an abundance of Namibian hospitality.
The event will be held at Swakopmund Mole; a sea swim in the Atlantic Ocean, a bike course through the town centre and the run along the promenade. The Event Office will be hosted in the Strand Hotel on the main beach.

Strand Hotel**** – This is the host hotel and located at the race venue on the Swakopmund Mole. When booking with the Strand Hotel please use the reference “Namibia Triathlon”.

Airport
The closest airport is Walvisbay International Airport about 40km south of Swakopmund.
Hosea Kutako International Airport is situated about 50km east of Windhoek. Shuttle buses are daily available from Windhoek to Swakopmund (return), 4-hour drive. (https://welwitschiashuttle.wheretostay.na)

Transfers

All Hotels and accommodation hosts offer transfers. It is recommended that transfers are booked in advance. Transfers available from Hosea Kutako International Airport to Windhoek.

Should you drive by car from Windhoek to Swakopmund it is about 360 km and a 4 hour drive.

Currency

Namibian Dollar (±NAD 15.50 =US$ 1) and all major international credit card accepted. South African Rand also accepted as payment.
Covid 19 Protocol

NB** Please make sure of the latest Regulations closer to your travel date to ensure that you comply with regulations as at time of travel. The current Regulations is subject to change at short notice.
As per the COVID-19 guidelines, it is mandatory for athletes to complete the World Triathlon COVID-19 online screening process. This process involves:
• Fill in the online pre-event questionnaire.
• Perform an Antigenic or PCR swap pre- travel test within 72 hours before the athletes’ travel to the event or no later than 6 days before the event for local athletes. Tests that must currently be taken to gain entry to a country are valid as pre-travel tests. FULLY VACCINATED TRAVELLERS do not have to present a PCR Test . You have to present your original Vaccination Card . This does not have to be uploaded to the Trusted Travel System until further notice.

 Entry INTO Namibia
 All NON-VACCINATED travellers traveling to or transiting through Namibia must hold a negative Covid-19 PCR test certificate 72 hours from time of the collection of the specimen to the time of arrival in Namibia (not applicable to children under 5years) NB* Loading test certificate to the Trusted Travel System is mandatory for your PCR Test. You will be denied boarding if not loaded to the system. For convenience also carry a hard copy of your test – See below and attached more details and procedures for the Trusted Travel System.

 FULLY VACCINATED travellers do not have to present a PCR Test. You must present your original Vaccination Card. This does not have to be uploaded to the Trusted Travel System.

Alternatively, a traveller may present a De-Isolation Certificate, not older than 3-months from the date of discharge from isolation, issued by the health authority in the country of departue.

 NB* Please note the airline you are travelling on may have a different/additional Covid requirements. Please check with airline before travelling
 Even when presenting a negative PCR test result or vaccination card, a person entering Namibia may be randomly selected for a PCR test at the point of entry. If positive, the person must be placed in isolation at his/her own cost as per Gazetted Regulations.
 Proof of Medical cover in Namibia/Travel Insurance for Covid-19 Related conditions.
 Health form upon entry to be completed by all travellers.
TTRUSTED TRAVEL SYSTEM

TRUSTED TRAVEL SYSTEM - Only for persons entering Namibia with a PCR Test.

IT IS MANDATORY TO UPLOAD YOUR PCR TEST CERTIFICATE TO THE PORTAL.

PLEASE DO NOT TRY TO DO THIS AT CHECK-IN / OR ON DAY OF DEPARTURE. PLEASE UPLOAD YOUR DOCUMENTS WELL BEFORE DEPARTURE AS THE AIRLINE WILL DENY YOU BOARDING IF YOU DO NOT HAVE YOUR PCR TEST ON THE SYSTEM AT TIME OF CHECK-IN. NEITHER THE AIRLINE OR AGENTS HAVE ANY JURISDICTION OVER THIS. ALL COSTS TO REBOOK YOUR TICKET DUE TO DENIED BOARDING AS A RESULT OF NON-ADHERANCE ARE FOR YOUR OWN ACCOUNT.

KINDLY NOTE that upon return every traveller must have a negative PCR test (or vaccination certificate). Details of testing facilities in Swakopmund will be shared at the Race Venue. The cost of the test is to be borne by the traveller. Average cost of a test is USD65.00 (NAD 950.00).

NO ATHLETE WILL BE ALLOWED TO ENTER any part of the RACE VENUE WITHOUT A MASK

All athlete entries must be made on the WT Entry System by the athlete’s National Federation.
