Este fin de semana la temporada 2013 continuó desplegando toda la acción del duatlón y triatlón en África y Europa. España dominó en la Copa Premium Europea ITU de Banyoles, mientras que Sudáfrica barrió con los Campeonatos Africanos de Duatlón ATU de Potchefstroom.

Copa Premium Europea ITU de Banyoles
Los atletas españoles deleitaron a los espectadores locales al quedarse con cuatro de los seis lugares del podio de Banyoles. En la carrera femenina, Agnieszka Jerzyk (POL) comenzó su propia temporada con un triunfo. Esta fue la primera carrera internacional del año para Jerzyk, quien dio gala de su talento al ganar su primera Copa Europea desde que lo hiciera en Karlovy Vary en 2011. El éxito español estuvo en manos de Ainhoa Murua y Tamara Gomez Garrido que se adjudicaron los dos lugares restantes. Garrido se mostró feliz con su primer llegada a un podio.

Fernando Alarza continúa con su buena temporada y se asegura su segunda victoria en Copas Europeas 2013. En la última vuelta pedestre, cinco hombres se disputaron el primer puesto, pero fue Alarza quien impuso el ritmo más veloz y ganó el oro. El francés Aurelien Lebrun cruzó la meta detrás y subió al podio de eventos europeos por segunda vez. Por su parte, Vicente Hernandez completó el éxito español al obtener la medalla de bronce. Campeonatos Africanos de Duatlón ATU de Potchefstroom
Sudáfrica demostró gran solidez el domingo al adjudicarse el oro y la plata en las competencias elite masculina y femenina. Andrea Steyn ganó por casi cinco minutos y Liezl Van Der Merwe llegó en segunda colocación.

En la carrera masculina, Johannes Du Plessis superó a su compatriota Travis Johnston en los últimos 5km pedestres y cruzó la línea de llegada en primer lugar. Johnston fue medalla de plata y Roger Randrianambinina (MAD) obtuvo el bronce. Clickea aquí para acceder a los resultados completos
