Aneta Grabmuller Soldati and Marek Rauchfuss proved to be an unbeatable duo at the 2025 2x2 Winter Triathlon Mixed Relay World Championships held in Cogne, Italy. Their remarkable resilience and strength in the snow earned their country its first-ever gold medal in this format. Team Italy secured the silver medal, while Norway claimed the bronze on a beautiful day in the Aosta Valley.

Once again, Kristin Waaktaar Opland from Team Norway II set a blistering pace from the start, completing the 1 km run of the first leg almost 15 seconds ahead of the chase group. However, things took a turn for the worse during the transition when an issue with her helmet caused her to lose several positions. This allowed Sandra Meirhofer (Team Italy I), Aneta Grabmuller Soldati (CZE), and Zuzana Michalickova (SVK) to move into the lead on the bike. Once they hit the ski segment, Grabmuller Soldati showcased her cross-country skills, taking the lead and establishing a gap that would remain unclosed for the rest of the race.

Grabmuller Soldati tagged Marek Rauchfuss while in first place, and the current bronze medalist from the Winter Triathlon World Championships put forth an incredible effort in his leg of the run, bike, and ski to keep Franco Pesavento (ITA) nearly one minute behind. The young Italian managed to cut a few seconds off the gap, ensuring a secure second place and avoiding a battle for the last spot on the podium.

The contest for the bronze position heated up between Team Norway I, featuring Hans Christian Tungesvik and Julie Meinicke, and Team Italy II. With Axelle Vicari and Alessandro Saravalle representing the second Italian team, they knew finishing behind the first Italian team would leave them out of the final classification. Meinicke created a slight advantage over Vicari and Michalickova, who were in fifth place, and by the time she tagged her teammate, the three podium spots appeared secure.

Rauchfuss delivered another solid performance in the final leg, recording the fastest split of the day and securing the gold medal at the finish line, followed by Team Italy and Norway claiming the bronze. Finishing fourth yet excluded from the final classification was Team Italy II, leaving Team Romania, represented by Maria Luisa Rasina and Viorel Palici, in fourth place in the results. Rounding out the top five was Slovakia, with Zuzana Michalickova and Mario Kosut.

In the Junior 2x2 Mixed Relay Winter Triathlon, Team Italy claimed victory, with Ludovica Sabbia and Enrico Bucci leading the charge.
