2016 Salinas ITU Triathlon World Cup

SPRINT DISTANCE – 750 m swim – 1 Lap; 20 km bike – 4 laps; 5 km Run – 2 laps.

Salinas is a coastal modern- resort city in Ecuador, with wide beaches and attractively priced hotels. This SPRINT Distance World Cup, is mainly flat and fast with one small hill of 26.5 meters in elevation. The bike course and run course use the boulevard along the beach, called Malecon where beach goers gather along the course to sheer on the athletes. The course then enters a Naval Base which provides security and quiet roads. See our YouTube video link for a virtual tour of the course: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mXi1vrg3qLo.
We expect water temperatures to be around 24 degrees, and air temperatures will vary from 24 to 28 degrees. Ecuador’s currency is the US Dollar. This is a very convenient feature of this gem of a city in South America.
