The regional development cup is a World Triathlon event open only to athletes ranked from 250th place and above in the World Triathlon ranking and whose federations are in categories 2, 3A and 3B according to the results of the previous year’s Survey. For this event, only athletes from Africa are eligible.
Eligible countries that want to participate in this event can benefit financial support from Africa Triathlon provided they have at least 1 male athlete, 1 female athlete and 1 coach entered through World Triathlon entries system.
This support can take the form, among other things, of accommodation for 1 male athlete, 1 female athlete and 1 coach with full board for a maximum of six nights and the granting of a travel subsidy of between 250 and 500 USD for each participant.

There are no registration fees or Prize Money in this Regional Development Cup event.
Senegal is hosting this competition in Saly, in the area which will host the triathlon events of the Youth Olympic Games in 2026.
Alongside this event, there will be a world triathlon appointed head coach on site to assist with coaching mentoring sessions with athletes and coaches pre and post event for athletes and coaches, as well as a development camp which will begin in the afternoon of November 12 and end in the late morning of November 15, 2023 for young African athletes born between 2008 and 2011 who will be in competing for the YOG Dakar 2026.
