Encarnación, known as "La Perla del Sur" is the capital of Itapúa, located on the banks of the Paraná River, 370 km from Asunción. It borders Posadas, Argentina, to the south, connected by the San Roque González de Santa Cruz International Bridge.
It is one of Paraguay’s top tourist destinations, renowned for its Avenida Costanera, white sand beaches, and its famous carnival, the country's most important, celebrated annually since 1916 with vibrant, colorful parades.
